CONFIGURATION
OF OUTLOOK EXPRESS
Note: These instructions were designed for Outlook Express
version 6.0. However, instructions and screen shots should
be similar to earlier versions of the application.
- Open Outlook Express 6.0
- Click on Tools -> Accounts from
the main menu
- In the Internet Accounts screen, click on the Mail tab.

- Click on Add, then select Mail to add a new mail account (see
screenshot above.)
- From the Internet Connection Screen, enter the Display
name (how you want the user’s name to appear when an
e-mail message is received). Click “Next” after
entering the Display name.

- Enter the new e-mail address you
setup in the “New E-Mail Address Account Setup” section
above. Click “Next” when finished.

- Enter your E-mail Server Names as
follows:
a. My Incoming Mail Server is a POP3 Server
b. Incoming Mail Server (POP): mail.ristech.net
c. Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): mail.ristech.net
d. Click “Next” when finished.

- From the Internet Mail Logon screen, enter the mail account
information as follows:
a. Account Name: newuser@companyname.com (USER ID + domain
as specified in the E-Mail Account Setup section above)
b. PASSWORD: enter the Password specified in the E-Mail Account
Setup section above.
c. Click Next when finished.

- From the Congratulations screen, click Finish to complete
the New Mail Account Wizard.
- From the Internet Accounts Mail menu, select (highlight)
the mail.ristech.net account, and click Properties.
- From the mail.ristech.net Properties window, click on
the Servers tab.

- At the bottom of the window for Servers, put a checkmark
in the box next to “My server requires authentication” in
the Outgoing Mail Server section (see screen shot above.) Click
on Settings.
- In the Outgoing Mail Server window, make sure “Use
same settings as my incoming mail server” is selected.
Click “OK” when finished.

- Click Apply and OK, then Close to exit the Internet Accounts
screen and return to the Outlook Express program window.
- Send
a test e-mail to another account. Have the recipient send
a reply e-mail to ensure sending and receiving e-mail
occurs without error. If you encounter any problems, go
through these instructions one more time and make sure all
of settings
have been applied/entered correctly.
- Congratulations, you
